Soapstone has been used for centuries for cooking food. Thanks to its naturally oily surface, the Täljsten Steksten cooking stone doesn’t require any additional fat or salt before, during or after cooking

The Täljsten Steksten cooking stone is perfect for 4 people and can be used to grill food for about half an hour after being taken out of the oven.

The dimensions of the Täljsten Steksten cooking stone are 16 cm x 24 cm x 5 cm (width x length x height). It weighs 5 kg.


Put the Täljsten Steksten cooking stone into the oven for 1 to 2 hours at maximum temperature. Take the Täljsten Steksten cooking stone out of the oven and place it on the mats. Place your food and meats, already chopped, directly onto the stone and cook, turning them regularly. Accompany with different barbeque sauces. Enjoy !

Do not put either the cork mat or the insulated mat in the oven. 

While your stone is heating up, place the cork trivet on your table. Wrap the insulating mat in aluminium foil and place it on top of the cork trivet. For even more protection for delicate surfaces, we recommend that you place an additional mat under the cork one to limit the temperature reaching the table.

Do not cut any food on the stone.

Allow the Täljsten Steksten cooking stone to cool before cleaning it. Do not soak the stone while cleaning as the stone can absorb water and may crack if exposed to sudden cooling. If you think the stone has been in water for too long, it is a good idea to dry it in the oven for half an hour at 75°C.

Careful : keep the stone out of reach of children and warn your guests that the stone is extremely hot !

The Täljsten Steksten cooking stone is dishwasher safe. If washing by hand, DO NOT USE ANY DETERGENTS OR ABRASIVE MATERIALS on the stone. Simply rince abundantly with running water. The Täljsten Steksten cooking stone can be sanded with fine sandpaper (120) to give it a new lease of life.  It is not a good idea to wash the insulating mat but rather to keep it protected with aluminium foil.
